I’ve been told, “Ok, Mr. Web 2.0…”
So, yeah. I've been called Mr. Web 2.0, but I'm cool with it.
It’s true. I’ve been told, ok, Mr. Web 2.0… (as also explained at http://www.alistapart.com/articles/difficultclients) by my friends and cousin in NY. But I take it as a complement more than an insult. Web 2.0 is the advancement of internet technology beyond HTML and tables to the new web standards of CSS and XHTML. Both of these languages, along with Flash, Java, PHP, ASP.net and other programming languages are now being integrated in to better web sites and web based applications like YouTube, Google, Flicker and grantmx.com.
Using CSS and XHTML gives websites more flexibility in design, development, deployment, and post-deployment analytic programs such as Google and Yahoo! Analytics. Because your web browser no longer has to read all the junk <font> tags and <table> tags and others found in HTML, sites developed in XHTML just simply run faster.
Also, the back-end development of XHTML sites makes the web developers life easy. Unlike tables, XHTML and CSS do not move, resize and re-arrange themselves unless you tell them to. This speeds up the development time and gives the customer what they want, when they need it.
So, yeah. I’ve been called Mr. Web 2.0, but I’m cool with it.
